Queen Margaret College
Queen Margaret College is an independent girls’ school in Wellington, New Zealand, providing education for students from Year 1 to 13 with a co-educational Pre-School. It was established in 1919 as an inner-city, Presbyterian girls’ college.
Project: Secrets of the Daughter of Troy Children’s book illustration
Format: 24-page square perfect bound book.
Brief: To illustrate and design a children’s book for the centenary. The style of the book needed to appeal to both children and adults and link to historical artifacts.
Solution:
The chosen media for illustrations is traditional acrylic paint with a line art ink overlay. A lot of historical research went into the illustrations. The style was based on Queen Margaret’s Gospel Book and tapestries from that era.
